Walden hosted its first Beer Tasting Dinner this past weekend with a fabulous menu created by Chef Pete and paired perfectly with beers from Thirsty Dog Brewing Company. Here is a sample of the menu members enjoyed: Chef’s choice of passed hors d’ oeuvres / Orthus Belgian Dubbel, duck and cabbage sausage, whole grain mustard sauce/ Labrador Lager, roasted beet salad, frisée, poached egg/ Raspberry Ale, shepherd’s pie / Irish Setter Red , ohio cheese plate, housemade bread/Citra Dog American IPA and ohio maple rice pudding/ Rise of Mayan Dog Chocolate Honey Stout.
One member who attended the dinner shared this: Chef Pete, as always, the food for Club Walden’s first annual Beer Dinner was outstanding. It was amazing how each course of food complemented the different beers from the Thirsty Dog Brewery. John Najeway, from Thirsty Dog, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We even went out today to purchase the Cerberus Beer which John spoke about but did not have available last night.
The final added surprise of dark chocolate, nuts and cranberries was irresistible. We didn’t think we could eat another bite, but we did! Thank you for making this event most enjoyable.
Walden looks forward to your company at our next tasting! John Najeway promised to come back in the fall to share their Pumpkin Ale with us. Thirsty Dog Pumpkin Ale is brewed with summer’s harvest of 5 varieties of pumpkins, locally grown for the brewery, by the brewery!
